FBI Admits Anonymous Snooped Conference Call - taylorafor1953

"Hacktivist" grouping Unidentified is having a laugh at law enforcement's expense aft secretly recording a conference call 'tween the FBI, U.K. government, and other foreign police agencies, and then card the filmed conversation online.

The FBI has admitted that Nameless eavesdropped on the conference call, only told the New York City Times that the call wasn't hacked. Instead, Anonymous in some way obtained an email containing the league claim login information, which was sent to 44 people at the FBI and foreign agencies connected Jan 13. According to the Times, a foreign police official forwarded the email to a private account, where it was intercepted aside Anonymous.

The shout out itself sounds like business as usual. Agents from the FBI and the U.K.'s Metropolitan police talk about ongoing investigations into Anonymous, Lulzsec, and opposite hacking groups. They discourse legal strategy for two alleged hackers, Ryan Cleary and Jake Davis, who were arrested last year, and cite else suspects WHO haven't been arrested yet.

One notable tidbit from the group discussion call was about the hacking of Valve's Steam network late last year. After a U.K. official mentions having a suspect ("a 15 year-old josh WHO's basically just doing this all for attention and a trifle of an changeling"), an FBI official says the agency has an probe looking into that instance. The hacker, who goes by the alias TEHWONGZ, apparently mentioned Steam clean in a text file claiming credit for different security breaches.

The FBI is today investigating the conference call encroachment. "The selective information was planned for police force enforcement officers and was illegally obtained," the agency said in a statement.

In the meantime, Cleary's attorney, Karen Todner, told the Joint Press that the breach could present issues in her case. "If they haven't secured their email it could potentially prejudice the investigation," she same.

At the same least, such an intrusion is an overplus for the FBI, which should beryllium securing its league call lines. For Unknown, whose separate recent security breaches include Stratfor Global Intelligence, the Israeli government, and San Francisco's Alcove Area Rapid Transit system, it's just some other cause for bragging rights.
